Short biography of Zeng Li

Zeng Li was born in Liuzhou, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, in 1961. He graduated from the Central Academy of Drama, Beijing in 1988. He currently lives in Beijing.

He recently participated in An Epoch of Yu Gong — Solo Exhibition, Shanghai Gallery of Art (2006), the Guangzhou Photo Biennial (2007), the Shenzhen Biennale of Urbanism and Architecture (2005), the 1st Guangzhou Triennial (2002), the 5th Sao Paulo Biennale of International Architecture Design, Brazil (2003).

LOCAL aficionados of contemporary Chinese art now have an opportunity to see a group of 42 massive color photographs of urban and historic landscapes, construction sites and hutongs in Beijing. Compared with the surrealistic, color-vibrant paintings and multimedia visual elements, these photographs seem to stand out from contemporary conventional art. Perhaps it is because of the unpretentious depictions of the daily subject matter.
